Increase € 321 million in tax receipts in six months 2025

An increase of € 320.7 million or 10.2% of total tax receipts show data from the Department of Taxation.

The rise is mainly due to the significant rise of capital profits tax (+38.5%), VAT and Natural and Legal Income Tax and the Department’s efforts to increase the collection

Total tax receipts increased from € 3.13 billion in 2024 to € 3.45 billion in 2025.

Capital profits tax receipts were raised by 38.5% to € 113.57 million from € 82 million.

VAT revenue amounted to € 1.45 billion, up 8.5%. Customs VAT increased 7.7%, reaching € 387 million from € 359.4 million.

The income tax of natural persons raised 14.4%, rising to € 611.7 million from € 534.6 million.

The revenue from the income tax of natural persons are increased by 10.6% to € 553.7 million.

Extraordinary defense levies increased by 0.8% to € 247 million.

An increase of 8.6% was also reported by Special Credit Institutions Tax to € 40.4 million from € 37.2 million.

Casino tax receipts rose 68.9% and reached € 14.82 million from € 8.78 million.
