The positions of five coaches and the conclusions that arise.
An issue often in the realm of discussions of people involved in Cypriot football and fans is whether there is a talent in Cyprus or if you prefer what levels it is. At the same time, if one argues that there is a talent in Cypriot football, anyone else can easily disagree and argue with the following question: if this is the case, why do we not see these talents in the first teams and the Cyprus National? Or, why don’t we see them so often?
To determine exactly what is happening in the field of Cypriot football and most clubs are unable to staff men’s teams with Cypriot footballers from the academies, we referred to recent interviews given by people of football. Many of them were asking questions in order to draw some conclusions about this issue. Today we will deal with the placements of five coaches who expressed their own views on this major issue. However, taking into account their answers, one is complicated that the problem is not one and only, since various factors, with a different degree of responsibility, play their own role. It should be emphasized that the fact that different positions are expressed does not necessarily imply disagreement, since the course of the discussions was such that it highlighted additional issues.
The generic cause
Two of the coaches who spoke on the “stadium” focused on the problem of non -establishment of Cypriot young people in men’s teams, which undoubtedly has consequences for national, on the way the academies work. The reason for Lias Loukas and Steve Constantinidis. The coach of Freedom24 Young Ypsona, who is also involved in development ages, stressed that there is a talent, but “the issue is how much the teams with the players work on the pitch. Abroad, for example, if young people work four hours a day, two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon, our players work three times a week, one and a half hours. Therefore, this automatically implies that players abroad are working for twice as long as our own. There is a talent, but not the conditions … “. Asked about the topic of the conditions, it became more specific, stressing that there must be professionalism from K15. After noting that the gyms, sports psychologists, nutritionists, as it is done abroad, should be provided by the teams, he emphasized the crucial importance of coaches. As he typically noted, the Cypriot teams do not offer salaries to attract professional coaches to these age categories. “For me,” he said, “the best coaches should have been in the academies and not in the first team. Otherwise there is no salvation. ” To support his position, Liasos brought the example of Omonia. “Omonia had hired Vasilis Mita Technical Director at the Academies, made the organization and worked for four years. He applied the racing plan, the philosophy, organized the academies, went out, scouting at the younger age of other teams. It all starts with the decision to invest in the BoD. in the academies. It takes too much. It’s not easy … “.
There is no learning
The discussion with Steve Constantinides, regarding young players, began with his position that the biggest problem of Cypriot football is that “we do not give the little ones to the young”. He added: “Either they are not given the coaches or the coaches do not get them from the coaching school. I do not believe that the coaching school does not give all the coaches. But when a coach goes to U15, U14 and his mind is to win the game, it means we have a problem! There is no training in training, there are just workouts! Are they corrections to workouts? And if, yes, do the right corrections become? ” In addition to the subject of coaches, such as Liasos, the experienced coach focused on the way youth develop. In particular, he said that if he were a coach of National Cyprus, he would create scales in all cities with different ages (U15, U17), with the aim of finding the best young people for all positions. He is convinced that “if I had the ability to put my hand on the U15 and work with them, when they go to the U19, they will not lag behind in technique or nothing of an English, Spaniard or Argentine. The difference is that we do not give them what they need. This is the problem in Cyprus! “
Pambo’s experience and Spoliaric position
Having experience in Armenia and Georgia, Pampos Christodoulou highlighted an issue that is discussed every so often in the field of Cypriot football. This is the adoption and observance of strict rules for the establishment of indigenous players in men’s teams. After expressing the view that there are talents in Cyprus, “which, however, remain unused”, referred to the rules in the above two countries. “The most important of all,” the experienced coach stressed, “is that there are some raids, some laws, that say there must be a specific number of Georgians in the eleven, and so does in Armenia. Also, if you move on to Georgianou change you have to put Georgianos in the game. ” This tactic, however, would fully find Milenko Spoliaric, who had given an interview to the stadium earlier. Apollo’s former legend said that in order to raise the level of Cyprus, “two or three Cypriot footballers must be in the eleven of each team.”
They have it all!
Having daily friction with the children from his academy, Milenko Spoliaric raised other issues on the table. He said that many children at the same time deal with various sports, which does not let them rest. One of the conclusions drawn through the aforementioned words of Apollo’s former legend is that children do not focus on a single sport. “It is inevitable once something of the child is missing, sometimes he must be left alone, to decide on his own. Most are pushing their children and this is wrong. I never told my kids that because I was playing the ball they should do it too, “he said, noting that life has changed a lot and that in today’s age children have everything,” they miss nothing “, stressing that the big players found out of poverty.
After all, what does talent mean?
Through the discussion with Milenko Spoliaric, one can wonder what elements a young man has to have in today’s era to be considered a talent. The question asked Spoliaric was intended to tell us his view of whether he considers that Cypriot players are being wronged. The issue, however, raised it on another basis: “Football itself is unfair to Cyprus and abroad. Tell me how many groups are number 10. In the old days you remember Zidane, Ronaldinho. Now everyone is the same! Football … went more in another sport, strong and fitness than in mind and good contact with the ball. You see, and whenever they hold the ball, they give it back. “
Behind the words of Timur
With a first reading of Timur Ketspaya’s placements, one will conclude that we cannot expect better days for the position of Cypriot footballer. However, other conclusions can be drawn behind the words. Specifically, responding to the problems he faced in the National Cyprus and was unable to create the team he wanted, was perpendicular: “The first thing is unfortunately that there is no football talent in Cyprus to raise the national team. No talents are born as in other countries, unfortunately. We have to look back decades to achieve some players who were born. ” After our comment that once he claims that there is no talent, the problem is huge, he said: “There is no talent, there are no players who are so professional to raise the level of the National. There are groups that do not use Cypriots at all and are not unfair. ” The Georgian coach said there are no players who are so professional. Placement, which we can “bind” with the professionalism that Liasos argued that there should be a young age. Therefore, the question is: If there was professionalism in the young age categories, would we be at the same level?
