Baku, Azerbaijan, April 15. Axpo is expanding
its wind energy initiatives in Eastern Switzerland with the launch
of wind measurements at Tannenberg, located in the municipalities
of Waldkirch and Andwil in the canton of St. Gallen, Trend reports via
Axpo.

This marks the company’s second wind project in the region,
following the recent start of similar assessments at
Flumserberg.

As part of the initial phase, a 125-metre wind measurement mast
will be installed today, 16 April, within the municipality of
Waldkirch. The mast will record detailed data over at least twelve
months, including wind speed, direction, weather conditions, and
bat activity. These measurements are essential to determine the
feasibility of constructing a wind farm on the site.

The proposed project envisions the construction of four wind
turbines with a total installed capacity of approximately 22
megawatts. Once operational, the facility is expected to generate
around 30 gigawatt hours of electricity per year—enough to meet the
average annual consumption of 7,000 households.

The project site is partially owned by the local civic community
of Gaiserwald. At a local assembly held at the end of March, 93% of
participating residents voted in favour of commencing wind
measurements and granting the necessary building rights.
