Baku, Azerbaijan, April 4. We must optimize
our priorities, policies, and investments amid the current reality
of the global energy market, Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz
Shahbazov said at the 11th Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council
Ministerial Meeting and the 3rd Green Energy Advisory Council
Ministerial Meeting, Trend reports.

According to him, despite geopolitical tensions and market
volatility, natural gas remains the cornerstone of energy security,
a strategic asset, and will remain a central component of energy
for a long time to come.

“This requires investments in gas fields and infrastructure. We
must make quick decisions, taking into account the urgent reality.
Otherwise, the provision of the necessary supply volumes will
generally fail. There is another truth: there is no alternative to
diversifying to ensure sustainable energy security. Therefore,
obtaining energy volumes from various sources and routes is not
only a fundamental guarantee of energy security and independence,
but also important for Europe.

This issue must remain a constant priority and be considered at
the most important moments. As for the importance of Azerbaijani
gas, the Southern Gas Corridor is a strategic asset for Europe and
is an integral part of our plans. In recent years, Azerbaijan has
not only maintained its position as a reliable partner, but also
significantly expanded its geography,” the minister added.
