Twelve (12) applications were submitted from university actions abroad for the creation of annexes in the academic year 2025-26. Also, one (1) application for the commencement of an annex was submitted in the academic year 2026-27.
The deadline for submitting applications to the Ministry of Education, Religions & Sports for the issuance of a foreign university branches and operation of universities in the form of university education (NPE) of the Law Education (NPE) was completed on Monday, March 31.
According to the announcement of the Ministry of Pafe of Greece:
Applications will be transmitted directly to the National Higher Education Authority (ETHAEE), which is responsible for evaluating the conditions for the installation and operation of foreign branches, as well as the certification of their curricula. At the same time, the envelopes will also be forwarded to the National Organization for Qualifications and Vocational Guidance (EOPEPEP), who will examine the buildings of the Annexes. The criteria that will be implemented by the NTUA. and EOPEPEP are strictly defined on the basis of the institutional framework. It is clarified that the application is not a licensing. The start time of the annexes will depend on the time of completing the processing of the files by the NTUA. and EOPEPEP, as well as from the degree of excellence of applications.
It is a flagship reform of Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ government. As the prime minister himself pointed out, it is a multiple benefits: for students, their families, the Greek economy and of course for Greece itself.
Specifically, twelve (12) applications were submitted from academic academic institutions for the creation of annexes in the academic year 2025-26. Also, one (1) application for the commencement of an annex was submitted in the academic year 2026-27.

3. University of Greater Manchester
4. Sorbonne university Paris Nord

9. London Metropolitan University
10. Queen Margaret University
11. The University of Keele
12. University of East London
The maternal university institution, which has applied for the 2026-27 academic year, is Sunderland University while the process remains open to other universities.
