Arne Slot has decided in the summer to make radical changes to Liverpool’s offensive line, after being excluded from Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and a defeat by Newcastle in the League Cup final (2-1).
The Dutch technician does not have Darvin Nunes, Luis Dia and Diogo Zota for his next season, putting the acquisition of Alexander Isak from Newcastle to the top of his list.
According to the Spanish newspaper “El Nacional”, Slot is prioritized to acquire Isaac’s summer by Newcastle. The Swedish international has been contracting until the summer of 2028 and the administration wants to expand it for two more years, increasing the redemption clause to 200m euros.
But the 25 -year -old again refused to sign the new contract and insists on requesting a transfer to another team. The management of the Northern England team does not want to give it, but because of Isak’s persistence, he will have to accept proposals that will amount to 120m euros. The Spanish newspaper claims that Newcastle’s administration has stopped trying to find a point of contact with Isak, accepting that at the end of the season he will leave St James Park.
The Swedish international striker has 23 goals this year and five assists in 33 matches in all competitions with the northern England team jersey. Indeed, the report claims that Liverpool has already made the first contact with his manager and that Isaak prefers to play at Anfield rather than returning to Spain and wear the Barcelona jersey.
He had made a La Liga feeling competing for a three-year period (2019-22) with Sociedad, having a total of 33 goals in 105 appearances with the Basque team.
