The 2023-2024 season brought, as did the previous many and great successes for the wet track, with Calia Antoniou’s 18th place in the Olympic Games in Paris. At the same time, several other athletes have been distinguished and found on the pedestal of international events, so the season is considered extremely successful by the swimming federation. The now established excellence of the Federation was awarded to the outgoing treasurer of the Federation Gregory Tsioullou, for his long and significant contribution to the sports sports sports.
In his address, EOA President Konstantinos Giorkatzis, after expressing their congratulations to the award -winning athletes, among other things: “This is your passion and love for the sport that prompted the state to claim for you a safe and decent and decent environment. of him. The result I believe must satisfy us all. Keep working hard, dreaming big and believing in yourself to continue to be a role model for our youth. ”
The CMO member, Alkis Galatopoulos, in his speech, stressed: “The CMO as an institutional body of government policy in sport is constantly recognizing the need for modern infrastructure and favorable conditions so that you can focus solely on your performance. We are committed to enhancing infrastructure and supporting national plans, projects that are key priorities of the CMO and State Board of Directors. Our support as a Cypriot organization is uninterrupted and enduring. Our targeting is always athlete and it is our promise that we will stay on your side to create the best conditions for the future of Cypriot sport together. “
The President of the Cyprus Olympic Committee, George Chrysostomou, in his speech, having first congratulated all the award -winning, said that the Cypriot Olympic supports the athletes through various programs, such as Olympic Solidarity and the scholarships of the Leventis Foundation, as well as the Scholarships.
The President of the Cyprus Swimming Federation, Alexandros Christoforou, on his part, stood as follows, “I would like to point out that in swimming the biggest problems we face, which cause friction within our family, and outside of it, they are mainly from the infrastructure. It is generally accepted that swimming in Cyprus is the most popular individual sport, with a large increase in the number of children and clubs involved in it in recent years, so that the demand for sport with the present infrastructure cannot be met. I do not mention this as a complaint, nor do I want to sound ungrateful, as we know the high cost of constructing and operating the swimming pools burdened by the Cyprus Sports Organization. I point it out in the context of the urgent need for greater investment in sport for the good of our children and society.
