Turkey’s Foreign Minister, Hankan Fidan, will go to Cairo tomorrow, August 9, where in addition to Badr Abdelati’s counterpart, he is also expected to be accepted by Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al -Sisi.
Turkish diplomatic sources say that the main issue of Fidan contacts in Egypt will be developments in Gaza, talks between Hamas and Israel, which are being held through the mediation of Egypt, Qatar and the US, will discuss the efforts to end the area.
The talks are also projected to put developments in North and East Africa and the Sahel Zone, with an emphasis on Libya, Sudan and Somalia, as well as the political and economic cooperation of the two countries.
In 2025 it marks the 100th anniversary of the conclusion of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The second meeting of the high -level strategic cooperation council between Turkey and Egypt is projected to take place in 2026 under the chairmanship of the leaders of the two countries. The first meeting was held in Ankara on September 4, 2024.
In 2024, the volume of bilateral trade reached $ 8.8 billion and the goal is to reach $ 15 billion. The value of Turkish investments in Egypt is about $ 3.5 billion.
