Police in Constantinople launched tear gas and plastic bullets against protesters and protesters, while protest bans are ongoing.
New demonstrations have been scheduled for Constantinople but also in other parts of Turkey today Friday (21/3) with the request to release the mayor of the city of Ekrem Iimoglu, despite the brutal repression of rallies on Thursday night (20/3).
Police in Constantinople fired tear gas and plastic bullets against protesters and protesters, while protest bans are ongoing.
The episodes broke out when a group of young protesters attempted to head to Taksim Square, an emblematic protest area, which was excluded with metal railings.

In addition to Imamoglou, there are five mayors elected to the CHP and ten more by the pro -Kurdish DEM party, the other major opposition party in parliament.

Access to many social networking sites and messaging platforms remains confined to Constantinople for a second day. Interior Minister Ali Gerlikaya announced that 37 people were arrested for posting “provocative messages” on the internet.
Outside of Imoglou, another 80 people were arrested on Wednesday morning and another 20 are being sought. Among them, six are also accused of “supporting terrorist organization”, namely the Kurdistan Labor Party.
