With great success last Friday afternoon, the Public Green Public Nomination Ceremony was held in a Municipal Park “George Chr.
The event was a tribute to the late George Chr. Georgiadis, a distinct personality of Paphos, a founding member and executive of the Pancyprian Association of World War II, for his overall contribution to our city and our homeland.
In his speech, the Mayor of Paphos, Mr. Phaedonas Phaedonos, highlighted the importance of such initiatives, noting that the return of honor by a local authority to citizens who offered important services to society contributes not only to the preservation of historical memory, but also to the enhancement of its collective conscience.
The mayor also referred to George Georgiadis as a man with a high morality, who served his homeland with self -denial both through his participation in World War II and his subsequent years of action at the Pancyprian Association of Warriors.
His life and course, he emphasized, are a living testimony of struggles for democracy, freedom, social justice and values that he himself defended to the end.
With his decision to give the name of George Georgiadis to this public area, the Paphos Municipal Council honored his timeless and meaningful contribution and attributed his memory due to his memory.
During the event, the son of the honored, Mr. Giannakis Georgiadis, addressed a moving greeting, while Mr. Savvas Georgiadis, on behalf of the family, handed the mayor the banner of the Pafos Pafos Department of Pafos Pafos.
The ceremony culminated in the unveiling of the commemorative plaque, in the presence of the honorable family.
The event was enriched by musically, children of the Paphos Municipal Conservatory, giving a special tone to this modest but full of important night messages.
The Municipality of Paphos expressed his warm thanks to all those who attended and honored with their presence a man who dedicated his life to the offer and defense of universal human values.
