Ready for the announcement of a party is the former General Auditor of the Republic of Cyprus, a visiting professor of Economics at the European University of Cyprus, Odysseas Michaelides, and will even announce his decisions in May. Speaking to Citizen 107.6 & 97.6, Mr. Michaelides said that “as time goes on, the establishment of a party is becoming increasingly likely”.
Asked if there is time to establish a party and participation in the 2026 parliamentary elections, Mr Michaelides responded: “We are definitely catching up.” “In mid -May we hope to make our final decisions and (..) in May to announce exactly what we have decided. That is, we will not leave it open (..) We will tell you in May, we will tell the world in May whether we set up a party, which as time goes on I have to say more and more likely scenario (..) We will definitely announce something in May. That is, even if it is not the creation of a political party – as I told you, this is the most likely – some of the announcement we will do, ”he added. He also said that he and his associates want to see some latest measurements about whether people feel there is a need to establish a party and then make the final decisions. “What we are collecting is (..) that the parties, this customer system, in the eyes of citizens has now been depreciated,” he added, stressing that the question “will in no way be to simply do another party part of the system. What we want is to be extraterrestrial. ” He clarified that the people are not a problem but the institutions. “We will strive to be something different and this is perfectly perceived by the citizens,” he said.
Mr Michaelides, will you announce movement and after a few months will you set up a party?
OM No, no. Either it will be a move and will remain a move, or it will be the announcement of party creation.
Suppose if you set up a party, will you be a candidate in the MPs of ’26?
OM Yes, if we do a party this will be to participate in the elections.
Will you personally be a candidate?
OM Yes, if we will make a party, I will probably be. If we make a party I will be. I have no reason not to be.
Will there be well -known politicians who will frame you?
OM Now that it will be the first announcement, most likely not.
Do you talk to politicians?
OM I also speak with politicians.
And with party executives?
OM Of course I speak with party executives. But this is the next stage. That is, if it is a party it means yes, we need to draw a ballot paper in the autumn to take part in the elections.
Full ballot paper?
OM Complete ballot paper, in which we will also strive to have political figures who will have all profiles that will be in line with the stigma that our efforts will have. Clean faces.
Presidential 2028
Mr. Michaelides was asked about the associates who frame his effort, but did not want to name them. It was just enough to say that it is a matter for themselves to make their names public if they want it.
You are not afraid of wear (a party) if your goal is the 2028 presidential election, which I imagine is the goal of wanting to set up a party?
OM I have said that I see positively (..) if you want to offer somewhere, it means you have to get into battle. It is not a matter of deterioration. If we judge that the creation of a party will actually offer citizens something they need, we will do so. It is not a criterion to wear out or to worry.
