Police are investigating a suspension case, following an incident on Sunday night at Famagusta Stadium, before the start of the football match between Freedom 24 Krasava and APOEL.
The banner, posted on the stand where APOEL fans were hosted, contained a derogatory phrase against independent MEP Fidia Panagiotou.
Police are investigating the case as an offense concerning the ban on the use of racist or abusive slogans or symbols, in violation of the prevention and suppression of violence in the 2008 (48 (I)/2008) sports venues.
According to police, shots were taken from the stadium closed circuit and exams are under way to identify the persons who posted the banner.
