Reforms and productivity discussed Minister of Labor

The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Yiannis Panagiotou, as a meeting on Friday with the leadership of the Pancyprian Public Employees’ Guild (PASYDY), in the context of social dialogue, for the implementation of significant reforms and reinforcement of public cooperation.

In a statement from the Ministry of Labor, it is stated that after the meeting was completed, the Labor Minister said in statements that the meeting that took place “in view of the important issues we have before the institution of ATA, the forthcoming pension reform and other labor issues were particularly high.”

At the same time, he added that, in relation to the enhancement of productivity in public administration, PASYDY’s leadership was agreed to develop closer cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and in particular with the Productivity Center, which would be mutually beneficial. “I find it satisfied that boosting productivity is a priority for PASYDY’s leadership,” he said.

For his part, PASYDY Secretary General Stratis Matthaiou said that “we had a productive discussion with the Minister of Labor on a number of issues related to social dialogue, such as ATA and pension reform”. He added that particular emphasis was placed on the issues of increasing productivity in the public sector and “we have agreed with the Minister, through the involvement of the productivity center, specific actions in order to further increase public sector productivity”.
