The dollar dipped on Thursday, in the wake of Donald Trump’s declaration of trade war.
The US currency is down 1.55% against the euro, to $ 1,1025, negotiating at the lowest level since the beginning of October against the single currency. The dollar also fell 1.21% against the pound to $ 1,3167, and slipped by 1.57% against the Japanese currency to $ 146.54 per dollar.
“The US Federal Bank (Fed) should choose its battle: it will probably lean to support the economy” by reducing interest rates, “given that the impact of duties on inflation will be one -off and short -lived and that it will be partially offset by a sensitive financial deceased.” However, lower interest rates would make the dollar less attractive to investors, leading them to abandon it.
