The statement was made after US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski wants to back down the deal.

Ukraine will work with the United States with a jointly accepted text of mineral agreement that the two countries can sign, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Simbicha said on Tuesday.

Simbicha said in a press conference that a first round of consultation has already been held for a new draft of the mineral agreement and that an agreement providing for a strong American business presence in Ukraine will contribute to the security infrastructure of his country.

“This process will continue and work with our American colleagues to come up with a mutually acceptable text for signature,” Simbicha said.

The statement was made after US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski wants to back down the deal, warning that the Ukrainian leader would face major problems if he is doing so.

Washington proposed an expanded agreement on minerals in Kiev as the two sides failed to sign the framework agreement during Zelenski’s visit to the US in late February.
