Not even 500 patients

“The rheumatics in Cyprus are over 250,000. But the people who need this power help are probably below 500, because we are talking about specific categories of patients, “Ms Fokas said. He explained that it is, for example, patients with scleroderma who, if they do not have the right, constant temperature in the area where they may lose their ends. “In order to be able to understand the situation, there was a member of us who lost his fingers because his sock was folded and his foot was not sufficiently blored for a few hours,” Mrs Fokas said, stressing that “we do not ask for a specific rating for everyone, we are asking for specific categories.”

Letter to ministers

During the debate, before the Health Committee, MPs expressed the view that actions should be taken to the Ministry of Health, and subsequently to the Ministry of Commerce and Energy in order to add specific categories of rheumatoid artists to the list of experts. In this regard, in the coming days, the Commission Secretariat will send relevant letter to the two ministers, applying pressure to implement the patient’s request.

They are still looking for a doctor

The Ministry of Health and the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY) will leave another letter in the coming days, which will ask for explanations as to why the issue that emerged a year ago with the child. It is noted that the needs of 200 children with rheumatic disease are currently covered by a private rheumatologist who is examining adults, and at the Makarios Hospital, through the purchase of services, a pediatrician with special interest in childhood, who previously worked in the State and retired for a year. Because for a year now, no other doctor has been found to be hired in the State, OKYPY is buying services from this doctor as a temporary solution.
