Will remain in custody at least until tomorrow Wednesday
In front of the Nicosia District Court, the former Commissioner for Volcanism Giannakis Giannakis appeared on Tuesday morning.
Giannakis, as the court has decided, will remain in custody at least until tomorrow Wednesday, and as P. wrote yesterday’s evolution with the issuance of arrest warrants shows that the margins for Yiannis Giannakis have narrowed and that despite the legal quarrels.
What preceded the arrest
It is recalled that yesterday Monday, Yiannis Giannakis did not appear in court. He was represented by lawyer Victor Akamas, who, as he explained, only represented him during yesterday’s process. The lawyer informed the court that Giannakis had contacted him by phone and told him that he was ill, submitting a medical certificate.
What was obviously not convinced of the judge, who immediately ordered the accusation of the authority to contact the doctor who issued the certificate to come to court within the day and to testify if the disease of the former volunteer commissioner was actually justified.
The doctor was summoned and appeared in court and said that on Sunday night Yiannis Giannakis came to her clinic with multiple episodes of vomiting. As he said, he came with vomiting symptoms, inability to get food and general weakness, and that after the examination he was diagnosed with gastritis and given medication and a certificate of illness.
In a question from the judge, the doctor said that Mr Giannakis asked her to provide her with a certificate to work. She also added that she did not tell her that she was going to abstain from a court.
Following what was said in the courtroom, the judge decided to issue the arrest warrant against the former Commissioner for Volunteering.
