According to a statement from the Department of Labor Inspectorate, because dust contains small inhaled particles, which may have a negative effect on human health, public and in particular vulnerable groups (children, elderly and patients), they are urged to avoid circulating.

The TEE states that the affected businesses, based on the provisions of the safety and health of work (Code of Practice for Protection of Persons in Work During Dust Episodes) of 2022 (CDP 410/2022), should evaluate the dangers and take appropriate measures (or organizing). spaces (eg use of masks and/or other means of personal protection).

The latest hourly dust concentration values ​​measured at 08:00 in the following areas were in Nicosia, 199.9 µg/m3, in Limassol 83.7 µg/m3, in Larnaca 95.2 µg/m3, at Paralimni 54.6 µg/M3, in Paphos 40.7 µg Xyliaou 32.8 µg/m3.

It is noted that “dust” means inhaled floating particles in the atmosphere less than 10 µm (PM10).

Under the relevant legislation, the marginal value refers to the average daily value and should not exceed 50 µg/m3 (micrograms per cubic meter).
