The EU’s timeless support in Cyprus was reiterated by European Parliament President Roberta Metsola.
In its position before the European Parliament plenary on progress in the UN efforts to resume the process of the Cyprus process, on the occasion of developments in Geneva, he noted that the informal meeting for Cyprus in Geneva in March signaled a significant step.
“The European Parliament is determined to support the process under the leadership of the UN,” he said, stressing that dialogue and diplomacy are the only way for a permanent solution.
“We remain committed to Cyprus’s support on its journey to reunification, and that was my message to President Christodoulides when I welcomed him to the House and the UN Secretary -General when we met in Brussels,” he said.
“We now have to seize this momentum and turn the opportunity into hope. Europe will always stand next to Cyprus as we look for roads forward, “he said.
“The road to reunification is not easy, but we will walk together – with patience, perseverance and understanding that our generation can be the one that will find the way forward,” he concluded.
