
In the last two weeks, YKAN and Customs Department have identified more than 100 kg of hemp before being channeled into the Cypriot market
The arrest of a 34 -year -old passenger for illegal drug transport to Larnaca Airport was announced on Friday by the Customs Department.
According to the department’s officials, after a relative risk analysis, 34 -year -old passenger with American nationality, who arrived in Cyprus from Paris via Amsterdam and Brussels, cut off for control.
It is added that during the Radiodian testing of the two luggage of the passenger it was revealed that their content was probably drugs, while the natural screening that followed was found cannabis of a total gross weight of 36 kg and 600 grams, which were packaged in 31 and 30 nylon.
It is added that the passenger was arrested for self -inflicted offenses and the drugs were seized by the officers of the Customs Department. Later, both passenger and drugs were handed over to Larnaca Airport YKAN for further investigation of the case.
“The excellent cooperation between the Customs and YKAN department has resulted in the detection and obstruction of the channels to the Cypriot market beyond 100kg of cannabis in the last 2 weeks,” he says.
