Uranium enrichment crucial for Iran’s reactor operations – VP

TheCyprus

Baku, Azerbaijan, April 13. If Iran had not
pursued uranium enrichment, it would not have been able to activate
or operate the country’s existing reactors, said the country’s
Vice-President, and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran
(AEOI), Mohammad Eslami, Trend reports.

Speaking at the opening of a plasma therapy clinic in the Fars
province in southern Iran, Eslami explained that this is why Iran’s
competitors have targeted the country’s strategic objectives.
Currently, Iran has already passed this stage and has incorporated
enrichment into the industrial sector.

The Vice President emphasized that Iran’s uranium enrichment
program has driven the establishment of nuclear power plants in the
country. By 2041, Iran plans to bring online nuclear power plants
capable of generating 20,000 megawatts of electricity annually. The
only operating nuclear power plant in Iran, the Bushehr Nuclear
Power Plant (BNPP), has already produced 72 billion kilowatt-hours
of electricity. Iran intends to expedite the commissioning of
additional nuclear plants.
