Baku, Azerbaijan, April 16. Iran hopes to start
discussion within the framework of a possible agreement, the
country’s Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi told reporters on
the sidelines of a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers in Tehran
today, Trend
reports.
He believes that for this to fly, the other side has to step up
to the plate and show a constructive stance.
Araghchi said that in some cases, contradictory positions are
displayed by US officials, which won’t help the proper process of
the discussions at all.
The Iranian foreign minister added that, all things considered,
Iran is keen to get to the bottom of the US perspective in the
talks.
On April 12, indirect talks between Iran and the US on Iran’s
nuclear program were held in Muscat, Oman. The discussions, led by
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi and the US Special
Representative for Middle East Affairs, Steve Witkoff, were
described as constructive and based on mutual respect. The next
round of talks is scheduled for April 19.
