Baku, Azerbaijan, April 17. In the course of
her working visit to the Russian Federation, Speaker of the
Azerbaijani Parliament Sahiba Gafarova has had a meeting with
Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of
Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva, Tanzila Narbayeva, a source in the
Azerbaijani parliament told Trend.
As the conversation went on, they expressed content with the
dynamic development of relations between our friendly and brotherly
countries, with particular emphasis placed on the role of the Heads
of State in deepening the bilateral ties. It was remarked that the
bilateral relations had entered a new phase, and our countries are
currently cooperating successfully across many areas, thanks to the
firm political will of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and
Uzbekistan.
A comprehensive exchange of views also took place as to the
activities in the plan for the current year pursuant to the ‘Plan
of Practical Measures (Roadmap) for the Development of
Inter-parliamentary Cooperation between the Parliament of
Azerbaijan and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan for
2024–2025.’
They then broached the role of the legislatures in the
advancement of the Azerbaijani–Uzbek relations, with emphasis on
the close contacts between our legislative bodies.
Tanzila Narbayeva expressed her gratitude to the Speaker of the
Azerbaijani Parliament, Sahiba Gafarova, for her having taken part
in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union
held in April this year in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. She
also offered her congratulations on the successful arrangement of
the conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned
Movement in Tashkent.
Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, Sahiba Gafarova,
expressed her appreciation of the successful organisation of the
150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and of
the cordial and high-level hospitality extended to the Azerbaijani
delegation. She recalled fondly the visit she had paid to
Uzbekistan to take part in the event as well as the meetings held
on its margins.
As Speaker Sahiba Gafarova remarked, reciprocal visits between
the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are held regularly and
contribute to the further deepening of cooperation between our
legislative bodies.
During the meeting, there was also an exchange of views on other
matters of mutual interest.
