A family tragedy evolved in Rethymnon, and specifically to the prefecture hospital, when an 87 -year -old man shot and killed his 85 -year -old wife in a chamber where he was hospitalized.
The woman was in severe health, in a final stage of cancer. Her husband and perpetrator, wanting to relieve her of the situation she suffered, shot her and immediately turned the gun to himself and herself.
According to ELAS, the husband entered the chamber, and went out with his son on the balcony. He then re -entered the chamber and locked the balcony door so that his son could not react, blocking him from what he had decided to do. He pulled out a pistol, shot the elderly twice, and immediately shot himself, seriously injuring himself. But despite doctors’ efforts to keep him alive, he concluded.
