The European Commission announced on Tuesday the opening of applications for the 10th edition of the Youth4Regions program to support aspiring journalists. The selected participants will be in Brussels from 10 to 16 October, where they will have the opportunity to attend specialized seminars, gain hands-on experience in newsrooms and secure exclusive access to EU institutions and leading media organisations. Applications can be submitted until July 7, through the program’s official website.
According to an announcement by the Commission, this year’s program accepts entries in four categories: written journalism, video journalism, audio journalism and photojournalism. Youth4Regions is aimed at students and young journalists from EU Member States, neighboring countries and candidate countries, offering a unique opportunity to develop skills, network and gain first-hand experience of covering European issues. Since its launch in 2017, the program has already supported 300 young reporters.
Participants will also have the opportunity to apply for the Megalizzi – Niedzielski Prize, which honors outstanding young journalists and will be awarded on 14 October 2026. Winners will also be appointed as Cohesion Correspondents for 2027, taking on a two-week mission to report on the ground about cohesion policy projects and their impact on the everyday lives of citizens across the EU.
