The Fire Service responded to 54 incidents, 42 fires and 12 special services in the last 24 hours and until 06:00 in the morning, according to the Force’s press representative, Andreas Ketti. In his post, Mr. Kettis mentions that out of the 42 fires, 37 had to do with the custom of lambratzia (Nicosia 23, Limassol 6, Larnaca 6, Paphos 1, EMAK 1), while this morning and after 06:00 they received a number of calls about fires in various places and mainly in useless materials in the Nicosia and Larnaca Districts.

Regarding more specific incidents of the previous 24 hours, Mr. Kettis mentions that at 12:16 a response was made to save life after the Ambulance service in Larnaca was called. “Rescue of a person after falling approximately 2 meters from a two-story wooden house under construction. P.Y. transported the injured person using ropes and a stretcher from the second floor to the ground floor where he was missed by the ambulance crew and then transported by ambulance to the T.A.E.P. of the Larnaca hospital”, he says, adding that a team and a rescue vehicle responded.

For a second incident at 01:22 there was a response to a fire in an abandoned house in Limassol. “The fire started from garbage inside the house and spread to the roof. As a result of the fire, part of the roof collapsed, while the rest of the roof was also dismantled for extinguishing,” writes Mr. Kettis, and adds that two fire engines responded, while as to the cause, he states that it was the burning of dogs inside the house by unknown persons.
