Everything seemed to indicate that for the first time since December 28, Tottenham would celebrate victory in the Premier League and get the breath and the boost they are looking for. However, Babi Kostula’s Brighton (came on 82′) shocked Roberto De Cerbi’s side by drawing 2-2 on 90+5′ to leave Spurs 18th in the table and -1 off safety with a game more…
Everything looked like the first half would end scoreless, but things changed abruptly just before the break. In the 39th minute, Simmons found Poro in the area and he opened the scoring with a fine header, with the Londoners soon after making it 2-0 but the Dutchman sending the ball onto the post from a good position. And since that didn’t happen, the Seagulls managed to get to the goal, as at 45+3′, Mitoma ended the phase with a terrific shot after Gross’s ball and restored the balance!
Despite the terrible finale in the first part, the two teams were more balanced in the second, with chances being few and far between. In the 68th minute, Verbruechen stopped Palinha’s shot but nine minutes later had no answer to Simmons’ terrific shot, which made it 2-1 and gave Spurs the lead. Everything looked like the streak would be broken, but in the fifth minute of stoppage time, Danso lost the ball in the area and Van Hecke found Rutter, who… leveled Tottenham to make it 2-2.
