Arsenal defeated (1-0) Atletico Madrid in yesterday’s second semi-final between them in the Champions League and qualified for the final in Budapest (30/5). A qualification that also brought money to the coffers of Sporting Lisbon, because of Victor Gyokeres.
On July 26, 2025, Sporting and Arsenal completed and formalized the transfer of the 27-year-old striker for €65.76 million, as reported by Portuguese newspaper A’ Bola.
In the official announcement, it was revealed that a potential €10.25 million in goal bonuses will be added to that amount. In total, Sporting have already won almost 70 of the possible 76 million euros.
One of the targets that earns Sporting €1.25 million is related to the number of matches in which Gyokeres plays at least 45 minutes. For every 20 appearances, Sporting Lisbon earns this amount and up to the maximum of 5 million, they have already secured 2.5 million, as the Swede has already played more than 40 matches in which he played at least 45 minutes. He has already made 42 appearances, the fourth of which was in Madrid, in the 1-1 draw with Atletico in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals.
The goals he scores are also worth millions, as for every 20 direct participations in a goal (goal or assist), the Londoners give 500,000 euros to Sporting Lisbon, up to a limit of one million euros.
Winning the Champions League, with Arsenal already in the final, does not guarantee a bonus, but it does guarantee participation in the next Champions League 2026/27: An extra million for Sporting, up to a maximum of 4 million.
