At the same time, Mourinho already has in his hands a renewal proposal from Benfica.
Although he is happy in Lisbon, the possibility of a return to Real changes the situation. Mourinho has already assessed the situation and has set two main demands to take over the “meringues” bench again.
The first concerns his role in transfers. He does not ask to choose the players himself, but to have a say in the positions that need reinforcement, considering that the existing roster has imbalances. In his first term, after all, he had contributed to the acquisition of players who marked the era, such as Modric, Khedira and Ozil.
The second requirement is related to the operation of the club. Mourinho wants clear hierarchies and respect for the work of all departments to avoid situations that can disrupt the team, as happened this year with the Vinicius-Xabi Alonso episode.
From next weekend, Real will have ten days to complete the deal, using the €3 million release clause that allows Mourinho to be released from Benfica.
