12 schools were awarded in a children’s literature competition
Twelve schools from all over Cyprus and 37 students were awarded at the award ceremony of the school competition “The inspirational journey of Moomin and Pippi”, highlighting the creativity and values of children’s literature, the Ministry of Education says in a statement.
The award ceremony took place on May 26, at the home of the Swedish Ambassador Martin Hagström, in Nicosia, in the context of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU, in the presence of the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Athena Michailidou, the Ministry adds.
The event was also attended by the Finnish Ambassador Päivi Peltokoski, the Children’s Rights Commissioner Elena Perikleous, officials of the Ministry, the President and members of the Cyprus Section of the International Board of Books for Young People (IBBY), teachers and parents.
According to the Ministry, each student received a diploma indicating the category of distinction for their outstanding performance. Each school was awarded a fully equipped ‘Reading Corner’.
The twelve schools that were distinguished are the Primary School of Agrokipias, Primary School of Akaki, GC School of Careers, Primary School of Kato Pyrgos of Tellyria, Primary School of Kissonerga, Primary School of Konstantinoupoleos, Primary School of Mathiatis, Primary School of Mammari, Primary School of Trimiklini, 4th Primary School of Aglantzia, 6th Primary School Aglantzias, 6th Primary School of Lakatamia.
