A 37-year-old man was arrested in Crete for joining Hamas: The order of the materials for a bomb
The two men are alleged according to ERTnews to be the leading members of the group of three with joint training and all three from Hamas in the manufacture of explosives.
With reference to the 37-year-old who was arrested in the area of Agios Nikolaos, he allegedly came from Athens recently to work seasonally in a hotel. According to the same information, he had rented an apartment in Patisia where he lived in Athens and had also converted it into a laboratory.
He came to Greece about a year ago from Gaza and was granted asylum, and in the last 15 days when the authorities found out that he was a member of Hamas he had been under close surveillance.
What was found in the apartment in Patisia
In the apartment in Patisia, liquid dispensers, chemical reagents and precision scales were found, while it is alleged that he had ordered other materials, which, however, he had not received, in order to build a chemical bomb. When all the materials would be gathered, the authorities believe that the two would meet the 37-year-old and carry out their attack on European soil, still unknown where, including the country and the target of Israeli interests.
Next Tuesday, a cruise ship belonging to Israeli interests will dock in Crete. However, according to the estimates of Anti-Terrorist officers, this could hardly be the target since they had not yet received the chemicals and the explosive device was not ready. The knock would come soon and it would be loud.
The arrested man is expected to be brought before the competent prosecutor. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
