Panathinaikos reached an easy victory in Patras by beating Prometheus 96-63 for the 24th matchday of the Euroleague.
After the end of the match and more specifically in the following press conference, Ergin Ataman was asked about the three remaining games in the Euroleague and he did not hide his confidence that Panathinaikos can make it 3/3 against Barcelona, Valencia away from home and Efes at the “T-Center”.
“We have an excellent team and an excellent roster, with very good and experienced players. We saw in the match against Hapoel that we played perfectly but we made all the mistakes in the last five minutes. Of course I believe we can win the three remaining games in the Euroleague” was his characteristic remark.
Speaking earlier in the ERT flash interview, he said: “We played perfectly in the first half. We got a big difference. In the second half we calmed down and did not use the players who get more minutes in the Euroleague. We won. For us, this match is over and we have before us the crucial devil week in the Euroleague. We have to be physically and mentally ready for the trip to Spain.”
As for what he will keep ahead of the double weekend in Spain: “From today’s nothing, because there is a huge difference between the current team (including Prometheus) and Barcelona and Valencia. It will be completely different. We have to keep a few things from the Hapoel match where we played perfectly for 35 minutes to play 40 minutes at this level. Thus, we will have enough chances to win both matches.”
