Far from experiments, Mr. Damato!

I personally judge some teams’ “voices” for refereeing as a way to cover up their own weaknesses and mistakes. In other words, they throw the blame on others even if the murmuring of their fans stops, after an unexpected result.

However, we cannot say that the arbitrations have been good lately. On the contrary, they are particularly problematic and the reactions are completely justified. Both from those on the field and those on VAR. Both those coming from abroad and our own.

Certainly, the KOP should not intervene at the feet of the president of the Arbitration Committee, Antonio Damato. But he must send him the message that the refs he brings must be of a level. As Miroland Mazic did. With the Serb at the helm, top-shelf refs were coming in and going unnoticed, something we don’t see in the Italian’s selections.

If nothing else, KOP should protect its product. Football in the First Division is so competitive, so much money falls from the teams with the aim of distinction, that it is good not to deal with the “2” (referee and barista), but with the protagonists who are the football players and the coaches.

We are approaching the finale and a lot is being judged. Not that top shelf refs are infallible, but if nothing else, they are more experienced than games judging a year’s worth of effort. And experiments during such a period will make things worse and the participants will have every reason to shout…
