In dynamic actions to prevent the planned killing and sampling of animals, the breeders are proceeding, after the meeting of the “Voice of Livestock Breeders” association, during which unanimous decisions were taken for the next day of mobilizations.
The president of the association, Neophytos Neofytou, stated that the breeders decided not to proceed with mass mobilizations, road blockades or actions related to the upcoming elections, clarifying that their actions will focus exclusively on the protection of their animals and property.
As he said, “people are outraged” and so it was collectively decided to block any killing or sampling planned in the coming days.
Special mention was made of the community of Pachnas, where, according to Mr. Neofytou, who was answering a related question, it is expected on Thursday that breeders from various regions will gather in order to prevent the killing of animals and to request a review and a second sampling.
The president of the association “Voice of Livestock Breeders” also noted that, despite concerns about possible arrests by the Police, after the recent incidents during sampling on a farm in Nicosia province, the breeders appear determined to continue their reactions.
“In the face of killing someone’s life, arrest is the least that can happen,” he said, adding that producers are ready to take measures to protect their animals and property.
In response to a question as to whether other livestock farmers in other provinces have been informed of impending killings, Mr. Neofytou replied that so far there has been no relevant information, however, as he said, “there are centers in all the provinces and the information is given immediately via telephones”.
