Celtics coach Joe Mazzula was voted NBA coach of the year. He received 392 votes in the voting, with JB Bickerstaff of the Pistons following with 312 and Mitch Johnson of the Spurs third with 133.
Mazzula, who turns 38 on June 30, is the youngest winner of the award since Phil Johnson in 1975. He led the Celtics to 56 wins in the 2025-26 season and second place in the Eastern Conference despite Jayson Tatum missing most of the season with a torn Achilles. Boston lost to Philadelphia in seven games in the first round of the playoffs.
His overall record in four seasons with the Celtics is 238-90, and they won the championship in 2024. Mazzula is the fourth coach in Celtics history to win the award after Bill Fitch (1979-80), Tommy Heinzon (1972-73) and Red Auerbach (1964-65).
