APOEL remains on difficult paths as it presents pathologies that cost points and possibly qualification. The capital club are not in a good mood and at perhaps the most crucial time of the season, they are unable to raise their heads to claim what they can from the current season.
The draw from the game with Paphos (3-3) reinforced the concern and at the same time leaves no room for Garcia’s team to climb. Defensively, APOEL showed weaknesses that do not allow it to hope for a big turnaround, in view of the rematch with Apollon (2-3). The blue and yellow are called not only to score but also to keep a clean sheet, against a team that found them… sticks in 2026. In a span of six days, APOEL conceded seven goals (!) from the blue and white as they already met in the play offs (2-3, 2-4).
The draw with Paphos adds to another worrying statistic. Since February 15, when they were defeated 2-3 by Ethniki, they recorded three more games in which they conceded more than two goals. Apart from the match against Achniotes, the nets of APOEL were “hurt” both by Apollo (twice) and by Paphos.
It seems that the defensive function has been broken for weeks, as since February 22nd when they kept a clean sheet against Omonia (1-0), they have not recorded another game with an inviolable goal!
