The presence of active and former journalists on the party ballots for the parliamentary elections was significant, with the ballot showing different results for the candidates from the information field. Some secured their entry into Parliament, while others failed to be elected.
Among the persons with a journalistic career who enter the parliamentary seats for the first time are Dimitris Souglis with Direct Democracy, o Konstantinos Konstantinou with AKEL and Adamos Aspris with DIKO.
The re-elected include two former journalists with an already parliamentary presence: h Irini Charalambidou with it JUMPwhich secured 5,928 votesand o Nikos Kettiros with it AKELwho was re-elected with 11,510 votes.
THE Konstantinos Konstantinouknown from his television career and the show “24 Hours Together”, ensured 9,986 voteswhile o Dimitris Sougliswith many years of presence on television, radio and writing, was elected with 2,766 votes. THE Adamos Aspriswho had also worked as a journalist at the beginning of his professional career, was elected with 776 votes.
Several persons with a track record in the media sector remained outside the Parliament. Among them the George Chrysanthou of DISYchief news editor at Alpha Cyprus, who received 4,597 votesas well as the investigative journalist and author Blessed Drusiotis with it Voltwho collected 2,024 votes.
She was also not elected Roula Georgiadou of ELAMwith 1,024 voteswho has worked in radio, television and magazines, and previously served as an MP. He was also left out Giorgos Penindaex her DIPAformer director of KYPE, with 1,068 votes.
In Paphos, the journalist Natasha Ioannou of DIKO he failed to be elected, receiving 579 votes. They were also left out Andri Konstantinidou with 278 votes and the Garlic panic with 471 votesboth with journalistic experience in Pafos district.
From the JUMPh Maria Theristia lawyer, radio producer and former journalist, was not elected, gathering 309 votes. From the Environmentalists Movemento Michael Menelausa former press officer and journalist, received 106 voteswhile from DIPA or Black Sundaywith previous activity in the media sector, received 45 votes.
