On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, the informative lecture on “When the aorta breaks the silence – How we prevent and treat aneurysms” was successfully held at the Chlorakas Adult Center, with cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Georgios P. Georgiou.

The event was held under the auspices of the Deputy Prefect of Pafos, Efrosyni Georgiou, while the President of the Health Committee of the Parliament, Efthymios Diplaros, addressed a greeting.

During the lecture, the importance of prevention, early diagnosis and modern therapeutic approaches for aortic aneurysms, a serious but often “silent” condition, was highlighted.

A particular impression was made by the report that “there is no disease that favors clinical humility more than aortic aneurysm”, underlining the limits of medical intervention but also the fragility of human life in the face of the silent progression of the disease.

The organizers expressed warm thanks to Dr. Georgios Georgiou for his substantial and highly informative presentation, as well as for his valuable contribution to the field of cardiothoracic surgery.

As stated by Dr. Georgiou is a graduate of the Medical School of the University of Szeged, Hungary, specializing in Thoracic Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery. At the same time, he serves as Assistant Professor of Anatomy and Surgery at the Medical School of the European University of Cyprus, while since 2007 he has held the position of Visiting Senior Lecturer of Surgery at the Sackler School of Medicine of Tel Aviv University.

At the same time, he practices active clinical work as a cardiothoracic surgeon at the Aretaiio Hospital, with a particular interest in modern invasive and minimally invasive techniques.

Warm thanks were also expressed to the Deputy Prefect of Paphos, Mrs. Efrosyni Georgiou, for the support and patronage of the event, recognizing her long-term contribution to public administration and the service of citizens.
