The international airport and port in Aqaba, southern Jordan, have been evacuated due to a “specific and credible threat”, the US embassy in X said today.
“We strongly advise all Americans to avoid traveling to either the airport or port. Please continue to follow all security instructions from Jordanian authorities,” the embassy said without elaborating.
Besides, air raid sirens sounded today in Bahrain, which has been the target of attacks by Iran against neighboring countries, US allies, according to the Ministry of the Interior and an AFP journalist.
“The sirens went off. Citizens and residents are asked to keep calm and move to the nearest safe place,” the ministry said in a statement. An AFP reporter reported that sirens sounded in Bahrain’s capital, Manama.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said today that two ships were involved in an “accident” after attempting to sail through the Strait of Hormuz through a “dangerous route”, while two other ships abandoned that route, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.
The Guards said the four ships ignored Iranian warnings and acted with US support. “Ships influenced by the words of the Americans and entering dangerous routes will definitely face accidents,” the Guards warned in a statement.
